Is your website optimized for mobile devices? – Infographic

Is your website optimized for mobile devices? If not, there is a big chance you are turning away 76% of mobile users that won’t even bother using a website optimized for mobile devices. It is estimated that 1 in 4 people in the world now browse the internet only on a mobile device. This is a huge number when you consider the amount of active internet connections there are in any given moment. The statistics also show that it is not limited to the United States, or wealthier countries. Statistics show that in Brazil, 35% of the population spends more than 6 hours per day on a mobile device. That is almost as many as the Unites States and Australia combined! Because of this, it is crucial that you begin the process of converting your website or blog to a mobile friendly version as soon as possible. Netbiscuits, a global leader in mobile web development innovation released the following statistics about mobile and tablet growth for the end of year 2013:

  • Smartphones continue to dominate the top 100 most used devices
  • Tablet representation in the top 100 has more than doubled in a year
  • Android™ is the leading OS overall, but is not the leading platform within the top 100 devices
  • Average screen size within the top 10 most popular devices has increased from 3.9” to 4.2”
  • Android continues to be more fragmented than iOS, with a far slower migration pattern
  • Windows Phone share has grown most significantly in the Middle East & Africa, Latin America and Asia Pacific markets

They also mentioned that for brands, it is becoming increasingly important to deliver great tablet experiences to their customers. And with 46% of users admitting to defecting to competitor website after a bad tablet experience, there was never a better time for brands to begin incorporating tablets into their web strategy. The below infographic shows the huge shift in surfing habits geared toward mobile devices. The folks over at Netbiscuits created this great infographic that puts it all in perspective.
